The Youngsters
A safe place to sleep, a caring home, enough to eat, medical care, education... things that might seem basic to us aren't a given in many rural areas of Uganda. In a small village near Fort Portal, Francis has dedicated his life to giving the children of his hometown real opportunities for a brighter future.
The Hopes & Dreams of our Youngsters
Violet
Violet is one of the older children in the village—almost an adult. True to her role, she looks after the younger ones, the big sister who’s always there for everyone.
Her caring nature extends to animals, too. Violet dreams of becoming a veterinarian.
But in Uganda, pursuing such a career comes with financial challenges that even a top student like her cannot overcome without support.
Patrick
Patrick is a rather quiet boy—except in English, where he’s the best in his class.
His goal? To learn more about the world and see more of Uganda. Maybe even become a tour guide one day.
But first, he needs to get through to secondary school.
Your Questions
What impact does my donation have?
How do I know my money actually reaches the kids?
Will I receive a donation receipt?
All your children look so happy in these pictures. I thought they were struggling...?
I'd like to do more. How can I help?
Things to know
Most of our Youngsters are orphans, as wildlife accidents and traffic incidents that claim the lives of parents and providers are common in Uganda.
The first four children Francis helped before founding the Youngsters organization all lost their father to such an accident.
HIV & AIDS, birth defects, and more... some of our children face serious health issues. These challenges place such a heavy burden on the families that they entrust their sick children to Francis’ care. Because medical care is expensive - and social support almost non-existent.
Some Youngsters come to Francis with their younger siblings to escape domestic violence and parents struggling with alcoholism. Offering them a warm meal and a safe place to sleep for a few nights becomes our priority in such cases.
Your help makes a difference!
Food or lifesaving medicine? School or work in the fields? Go to school hungry or stay lying on the hard ground because you have no strength to learn?
How would you choose?
For our Youngsters your support would mean that they no longer have to face these tough decisions - but finally have the means to shape their own future instead
